Claudia Hernández (she/her) is a visual editor and multidisciplinary visual artist based in New York City and Washington D.C.

 

Born in Ciudad Juárez, México, she spent years traveling between her hometown and El Paso, Texas. Claudia has an MFA in Photography from Brooklyn College, a BA in Multimedia Journalism, and a BA in Digital Media Production from UT El Paso.

 

She was the photo editor at The Prospector and Minero Magazine from 2016 to 2020. She has also worked as a photo editor for several NPR Next Generation Radio programs. She also coordinated the translations of hundreds of stories for the Institute for NonProfit News project "Translating Chicago Stories" in 2020 and 2021.  She worked as a reporter at Borderless Magazine covering the US/Mexico border from 2020 to 2023.

 

Claudia was part of the summer 2023 Washington Post newsroom intern's class. She currently works as a photo editing contractor at The Washington Post.
